How to Reduce Your Electricity Bills - Understand Your Electrical Equipments

Electricity bills have literally left you shocked? 2013 on wards ,if you consume 300 units then price/unit will the exact market price.  Want to reduce your high flying electricity bill? Here we go with some tips to strive towards a shock-free electricity bill:

Find the Consumption of Each Equipment

We can calculate the amount of electricity consumed in home. Find the wattage and the number of hours we use a particular electrical appliance. Find the product of these and then divide it by 1000 to get the units of electricity used by an appliance.

For e.g.: The amount of electricity used by a 90watt fan that works for five hours is 60 ×  5 /1000=03 units.

Time Taken by Different Equipment to Consume 1 unit Electricity

1 Unit = 1000 watts hour =1 KWH

Equipment           - Time Taken
FAN                    - 16 HRS + 40 MIN
MIXER /MIXCY - 2 HRS +13 MIN
IRON BOX         - 1 HOUR
TV                       - 10 HRS
FRIDGE              - 10 HRS
BULB 100 W      - 10 HRS
CFL BULB          - 90 HRS +55 MIN
TUBE LIGHT      - 23 HRS +15 MIN
WATER PUMB   - 1 HRS+20 MIN
AC                      - 40 MIN

When the Voltage Varies..

Electric mishaps are on a ride during rainy season. A light protector caution can prevent both the disaster and the electricity consumption. At times, we can see lights glowing with unprecedented radiance. Excess voltage accounts for this. This may cause electronic devices to burst and may even cause an outbreak of fire.

Excess voltage occurs due to umpteen reasons. If the link in the three face meter breaks…or if a supply is being taken to the vicinity…or if the cable lines oscillate…or if the fuse connection in transformer neutral accumulates verdigris… all these results in a rise in voltage. If you feel like something is wrong, switch off the main switch. Inform the same at the electricity office.
  1. Don’t insert or pull out a plug if your hands are damp. Make sure that the switch is in off mode; wear rubber slippers before inserting or pulling out a plug.
  2. Switch off the fridge first and then only clean up. Don’t use metal apparatus to remove ice during defreezing.
  3. Before changing a bulb, switch off the connection. Avoid being near the bulb while switching it on because bulb is prone to explode in humid atmosphere.
