- Select ACs with automatic temperature cut off.
- Close the windows and doors properly. Close all the gaps of the room through which air from outside gets into it.
- It’s good to use sun films or curtains on the windows. By doing this you can save 25 to 50% of electricity.
- Provide necessary gap between the AC and wall for air circulation.
- Don’t place a TV or electric lamp near the thermostat of the AC. The heat from such appliances will affect the thermostat thereby increasing the consumption of electricity.
- Setting the thermostat two or three degrees less than the atmospheric temperature will decrease the use of electricity.

Thanks for sharing these tips! HVAC dampers are also a great way to save electricity. From what I read in an article by Anderson Air, they play a vital role in your zoning system. It's because they are an effective way to direct the airflow in another direction.
